{ lap chalk board }

My kids love these! And they're so cute! I found this cute chalk board/clip board from another blog and added my own pillow back for a comfy lap activity! Perfect in the car or on a plane!

What you'll need:
  1. Clip board
  2. Chalkboard paint
  3. Paper
  4. Fabric and stuffing
  5. Hot glue
  6. Mod Podge and foam brush
  7. Ribbon and embellishments
OK...
Start by laying your clipboard on top of your fabric. Cut out a piece about an inch and a quarter larger than your board.

Now cut out the corners a quarter inch back from the clipboard. You need to have room for a sew line! Do this on all 4 corners.

Fold the cut corners, right sides together. Sew them closed.

You should have something like this now!

Now hot glue one long side of your fabric down to the back side of the clipboard. The right side of the fabric should be glued down so no raw edges are showing.

Glue the other long side and one short side down by tucking the fabric under. Leave one short side open for stuffing.

Now stuff the pillow through the open end!  Once it's stuffed, you can tuck the fabric under and glue this side down too!

Now that your pillow is done you can create your chalk board.

Paint the front of the clipboard with your chalkboard paint. Follow the instructions on the bottle! Mine said to use 2 coats and you can't chalk on it for 24 hours! I left a 2 inch section at the bottom unpainted. Don't forget to run the chalk over the whole board before you start using it but after the 24 hour dry time!

Add a strip of paper to the bottom of the clipboard using Mod Podge by painting it onto the back of your strip and then smoothing it down onto the clipboard. Let it dry 15 min.

Now add a layer of Mod Podge over the top of the paper. Let it dry an hour and add ribbon and embellishments! I tied a ribbon through the hole in the clip and tied a piece of chalk to the other end.

The kids love these!
