{ wall makeover } vinyl and frames

I just got home from a month long vacation to Utah. It was so nice
to see my family and enjoy their company!
My mother had this big empty wall in her living room that was
crying for something! I threw out an idea to her and she agreed without
hesitation! She wanted the wall filled!

I went through her stash of empty frames and found 8 matching frames and spray painted them.
Then I went through "the drawer". My mom has this huge drawer stuffed full of  pictures
from our childhood and ever hers. It's always a favorite past time when the family gets together to
pull out "the drawer" and go through old photos and reminisce!
I found similar candid baby pictures of each of my mother's children and put them
in the frames. I then put them on the wall in a fun diagonal pattern.

So I went to the vinyl store and had this piece made. It is huge and
we cut it apart so it would line up and fit how Mom wanted it.

It turned out pretty cute! Now we can do a little reminiscing even
if we don't have time to pull out "the drawer"!
Enjoy!

{ picture book }

Trying to find a cute way to display your photos? Here's one!
It's so simple and you can change the photos out as you please!

What you'll need:
  1. A hard back book
  2. Clothes pins
  3. Photos

All you do is simply use the clothes pins to hold your picture onto
the cover of the book!

I removed the paper cover from my book so that it looks a little
older than it really is. I just picked up this book from Salvation Army.
I think it was $1.00! I also wrote on my Polaroid type photos.

I also tried it putting the photos inside of the book! It was
so cute, too! I love this idea for a night stand or a coffee table!

There is nothing to it! It's such a cute vintage/shabby chic look
that I really enjoy! I can't wait to share all of my "old book" ideas!
I have a lot coming!

{ picture blocks }

These blocks are cute alternative to a framed photo! These particular ones were made for my sisters wedding! She used the blocks as part of her centerpieces during the reception!

What you'll need:
  • 2x6x6 inch block of wood, sanded.
  • Paint (optional)
  • Mod Podge and paint brush
  • Pattern paper
  • 4x6 photo
  • Ribbon and/or embellishments
Start with your block of wood.

Paint it. I used a creamy beige.

Now cut your picture down to fit horizontally or vertically on the side, top, or bottom of your block. You should only have to round the edges or maybe trim down one side. Then cut a piece of pattern paper to fill in the remaining area left blank.

Spread a layer of Mod Podge over the back side of your photo and position it where you want it on your block of wood. Be sure to slide the photo, not lift it, or i might rip. The Mod Podge grabs onto the paper quickly!

Then add your pattern paper the same way so it touches the photo at the edge.

Allow the Mod Podge to dry at least 20 min. If you don't, the paper and photo may lift and ripple when you add your top coat!
\
Add your top coat of Mod Podge to the entire front surface of the block. Brush in one direction. Once it's covered, very lightly brush across in the opposite direction for a canvas looking finish. Allow to dry an hour or so.

Now add your embellishments and ribbon! You can wrap the ribbon  all the way around or just hot glue a measured piece to the front.

Have fun!

Sorry these ones are sideways! :)
