{ a pie in a jar }

Alright! Mother's Day is tomorrow! Just in case you haven't found something for Mom, here is something she WILL LOVE! :) Pie is divine, but a pie that is just the right size for one person is to die for!  This simple little pie is just the right size and it is so cute too! Plus, Mom won't have to do all the work to make it!

What you'll need:
  1. 2 pint (or 4 half pint) wide mouth canning jars
  2. one can or jar of pie filling
  3. one recipe for pie crust (I've included one just in case)
First start by washing your jars with hot soapy water and then drying them.

Now make your pie crust. Here is the recipe that I used and it was really easy! You don't have to roll your dough out just yet! I started by just pressing pieces of dough inside my jar. Start on the bottom and then work your way up the sides of the jar. Don't go quite to the top of the jar.

Now you can fill your jar up with filling. Fill it up about a half inch shy of the top of your dough.

Roll out your remaining dough. Use the ring from your jar like a cookie cutter to make the top crust of your pie. Be sure to make a vent hole!

Now you put the top into the jar and press the edges to the dough already in the jar. Sprinkle with a tiny bit of white or brown sugar.

You can also use a crumble topping on the pie instead of dough! That would be so good!

 Bake pie (without lid) at 375 degrees until the crust is golden brown and filling is bubbling (45min - hour). Put it on a baking sheet too, just in case it bubbles over. Another great thing about these little pies is that you can put the lid on them and freeze them! Yep! That way next week when you're craving an apple or cherry pie..... you can just pull it out and put it right in the oven! You don't even have to wait for it to thaw because the canning jar is made to handle extreme temp change! Enjoy!

 I paired my pie's with a homemade apron and some fabric flower pins!

{ tissue paper cherry blossom }

This is such a cute project! It's another one that would be so cute for mothers day! I love flowers! But there are two bad things about them; they're expensive and they don't last! Here is a fast, almost free, way to give/have flowers that WILL last!

What you'll need:
  • pink or red tissue paper
  • green card stock
  • hot glue
  • a small branch
  • a dull pencil
  • scissors
Cut out about a dozen 1" squares from your pink tissue paper. These will be your blossoms. Then cut out the same amount of leaves from the green card stock. I put the pencil there so you had an idea of how big I made mine.

Now take your pencil and place the dull point to the center of one pink square while you pull the edges of the square to pencil.

Place a dab of hot glue onto your flower or your branch ( which ever you prefer ), and stick the center point to the branch.

Continue this randomly over the entire branch.

Now hot glue the bottom tip of your leaves to the base of the blossoms.

That's it! It's like a 10 min project! And it really looks great!

{ dry erase wall art }

I have a horrible memory! And I only go grocery shopping once a week! So I have to write down everything that I need to pick up from the store or I will forget we're out until I need it for dinner! Here is an easy way to keep track of what you need from the store, appointments or even nice notes!

What you'll need:
  • A picture frame
  • White paper
  • Pattern paper that coordinates with your decor
  • Ink pad (optional)
  • Glue
  • Paint and paint brush
  • Dry erase marker
Start by taking the back cardboard and glass out of your frame. First step is to paint your frame. I recommend a contrasting color to whatever wall you put it on!

While the frame dries, you can cover your cardboard with white paper. I inked the edges with grey because I like the look of it.

Next you need to cut down your patterned paper about an inch or two  smaller than your frame back. I inked the edges of this piece also so give more contrast with my white backing.

Your patterned paper should look like it is matted now!

Once your frame is completely dry you can put your frame back together and hang it in the kitchen or the office! Write with your dry erase marker directly on the glass and wipe of with a tissue when needed!

And when you have nothing to write.... It doubles as wall art! This could be an easy project for Mother's Day!

{ daddy made breakfast }

My husband surprises me sometimes!  I was cleaning house and it left him available to get breakfast for the kids! I ended up putting cleaning aside and spending this fun time with the family! I'm sure you remember making these little things in school but it was such a fun activity for the kids at home and my husband got major cool points with the kids!

What you'll need:
  • Fruit Loops
  • String
  • Tape
Simply tie a fruit loop to the end of your string leaving a 2 inch tail. Make sure your string is long enough to fit over the child's head!

Then wrap a piece of tape around the other end of your string so you can thread it through the cereal easily.

Thread your Fruit Loops on until you have about 2 inches left of string.

Now tie the two ends together! Use a square knot so you don't have to worry about the knot coming out and loosing all the cereal to the floor like our first one did! Remember: right over left then left over right! I had to teach Jake this little square knot trick after the baby yanked his right apart! And we have the " I cook, you clean" rule at our house..... so I got to clean up the mess! :)
 Stylish!

Yummy! :)

{ lap chalk board }

My kids love these! And they're so cute! I found this cute chalk board/clip board from another blog and added my own pillow back for a comfy lap activity! Perfect in the car or on a plane!

What you'll need:
  1. Clip board
  2. Chalkboard paint
  3. Paper
  4. Fabric and stuffing
  5. Hot glue
  6. Mod Podge and foam brush
  7. Ribbon and embellishments
OK...
Start by laying your clipboard on top of your fabric. Cut out a piece about an inch and a quarter larger than your board.

Now cut out the corners a quarter inch back from the clipboard. You need to have room for a sew line! Do this on all 4 corners.

Fold the cut corners, right sides together. Sew them closed.

You should have something like this now!

 Now hot glue one long side of your fabric down to the back side of the clipboard. The right side of the fabric should be glued down so no raw edges are showing.

Glue the other long side and one short side down by tucking the fabric under. Leave one short side open for stuffing.

Now stuff the pillow through the open end!  Once it's stuffed, you can tuck the fabric under and glue this side down too!

Now that your pillow is done you can create your chalk board.

Paint the front of the clipboard with your chalkboard paint. Follow the instructions on the bottle! Mine said to use 2 coats and you can't chalk on it for 24 hours! I left a 2 inch section at the bottom unpainted. Don't forget to run the chalk over the whole board before you start using it but after the 24 hour dry time!

Add a strip of paper to the bottom of the clipboard using Mod Podge by painting it onto the back of your strip and then smoothing it down onto the clipboard. Let it dry 15 min.

Now add a layer of Mod Podge over the top of the paper. Let it dry an hour and add ribbon and embellishments! I tied a ribbon through the hole in the clip and tied a piece of chalk to the other end.

The kids love these!
